County, Palmdale Agree on Roadwork

Share

An agreement between the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors and the city of Palmdale, approved Tuesday by the supervisors, paves the way for major improvements to a deteriorated segment of Palmdale Boulevard.

The stretch of busy roadway between 10th Street West and 5th Street West is in such bad shape that the improvements were described by the county Public Works Department as reconstruction. They include new pavement, medians, curbs, gutters, sidewalks and wheelchair access ramps. Traffic signals at 10th Street West will also be upgraded.

The project will cost about $745,000, more than half of which will be paid through federal funds being held by the county.

Under the accord approved Tuesday, supervisors agreed to contribute $40,000 in county funds to cover sections of roadway that cross unincorporated territory. The city will pay the remainder.
