Poway 77, San Marcos 47--Kyle Milling scored 13 of his 23 points in the first quarter as Poway (21-8) pulled away from a 6-6 tie. Justin Kruse had 22 for top-seeded Poway, which used all its reserves before halftime.

Morse 77, San Dieguito 67--Edwin Charles led No. 2 Morse (19-5) with 23 points, 15 rebounds and seven blocked shots. Other top rebounders for Morse included: Tony Martin (11), Edmon Jackson (10 in the second half) and Maurice Vickers (eight).

Rancho Bernardo 79, San Diego 62--No. 7 Rancho Bernardo (16-10) hit seven of 10 from behind the three-point arc, and Greg Hanson was four of five from that distance. He finished with 22 points, and teammate Kirk Hipple added 19. Hipple also had 11 rebounds and six steals.

Division II

Kearny 88, Castle Park 51--Kearny came out firing in the first quarter, outscoring Castle Park, 35-9, and the Komets (26-2) never looked back. Demetrius Brown led second-seeded Kearny with 21 points, including two monster dunks in the first quarter, and point guard Ali Nayab added 10 points and 12 assists.

Helix 77, Point Loma 56--Helix (18-6) turned a seven-point deficit into victory, advancing to Friday’s quarterfinals against Kearny.

Torrey Pines 63, Oceanside 52--Scot Pollard scored a game-high 32 points, blocked four shots and had half of Torrey Pines’ 26 rebounds. Craig Brown added 11 for the top-seeded Falcons (24-3). Shad Halbert had 14 points, including three three-pointers, and Carl Mathis 13 for Oceanside (11-14).

Serra 72, University City 58--University City scored the first six points of the second half to take a 37-35 lead, but were outscored, 35-14, the rest of the way. Tony Etheridge, a 6-3 senior forward, had 20 rebounds and eight assists to lead the Conquistadors (14-7). Teammate Darryl Van Cleave scored nine of his 13 points in the third quarter. Barry Waits had 17 points to lead University City (13-11). Serra plays at Torrey Pines in Friday’s quarterfinals.

Monte Vista 87, Escondido 57--No. 3 Monte Vista (23-2) jumped out to a 21-2 lead, a run during which Marty Ellis scored 14 points. Ellis finished with 22 points, and teammate Aaron Elliott scored 32.

Division V

Marian 81, Vincent Memorial 55--Marian won for the only the fifth time in 23 games but earned the right to play top-seeded Calipatria in Friday’s quarterfinals.

Tri-City Christian 74, Francis Parker 59--Nathan Durrance and John Afshari each scored 23 to lead (14-7).
