Trabuco Hills 84, Mission Hills Alemany 51--Junior guard Brett Poulos scored a game-high 23 points to lead Trabuco Hills at home.

The No. 2-seeded Mustangs (22-5) will play Mission Viejo Friday in a quarterfinal game at a site to be determined. Alemany, the Mission League third-place team, finished 14-12.

Poulos made eight of 11 field-goal attempts, including three of five three-pointers and all four free throws. Center Gavin Vanderputten added 20 points on seven-of-eight shooting and had eight rebounds.

Trabuco Hills led, 7-5, with 3:31 left in the first quarter before reeling off a 17-0 scoring run to take a 24-5 lead at the end of the period. Poulos made three three-pointers and scored 11 points.

Alemany closed to within 36-26 at halftime behind forward Rich Dice, who scored 11 of his 20 points in the second quarter. Dice made eight of 10 free throws in the quarter.

Trabuco Hills scored 10 of the first 11 points in the third quarter before Alemany chipped the lead back to 14 (57-43) on a three-pointer by Dice with 6:44 left. The Mustangs then went on a 20-1 run.

Mission Viejo 58, Los Amigos 41--Four players scored in double figures to help the Diablos (9-16).

Los Amigos built an 11-9 lead at the end of the first quarter, but the Lobos were outscored, 15-8, in the second quarter and never recovered. Los Amigos (8-16) was led by Mark Dillon’s 14 points.

Guard Eric Sorensen led Mission Viejo with 11 points. Kurt Zimmerman, Matt Denny and Dave Bayer added 10 each.

The Diablos forced Los Amigos into a poor shooting night, 16 of 60 from the field. Mission Viejo didn’t fare much better, making 17 of 46 from the field and 13 of 24 from the free-throw line.
