Woodbridge Pulls Away From Sunny Hills in Fourth Quarter

Todd Loewe scored 23 points and Ethan Twer 19 to lead Woodbridge to a 67-51 victory over Sunny Hills in the second round of the Division II-AA playoffs Tuesday night at Woodbridge High School.

Junior guard Arash Ghazinoor added 16 points and four three-pointers for the Warriors (18-6), who advanced to Friday’s quarterfinals against Oxnard Rio Mesa, a 70-67 winner over Riverside La Sierra Tuesday.

It was the final game in the Woodbridge gymnasium for Warrior Coach Bill Shannon, who is moving to Florida after the season.

Sunny Hills, which finished 21-5, was led by senior forward Terry Mann, who scored 20 points. Scott Paden added 10 points.

The game was tied, 45-45, with 28 seconds remaining in the third quarter. Woodbridge led by as many as six early in the fourth before Sunny Hills closed the gap to 53-49 with 3 minutes 15 seconds remaining. But the Warriors ran off nine unanswered points to take a 62-49 lead with 1:15 remaining.
