Mater Dei 1, Simi Valley 0--The Pioneers came within inches of advancing to their second consecutive 4-A final but two shots by midfielder Amy Hunter caromed off the goal posts in the waning moments.

Mater Dei’s Katie Ward scored 10 minutes into the game on a free kick from 30 yards. Simi Valley (24-2-1), the 4-A runner-up a year ago, outshot the Monarchs, 13-8.

Pasadena Poly 3, La Reina 1--The Regents fell one match shy of earning a berth in the 1-A championship against Westlake.

Granada Hills 2, Palisades 1 (OT)--Kelly Gordon scored nine minutes into overtime off a corner kick from Kasey Miller to boost the host Highlanders to a semifinal-round win.

Kim Pikor scored the first goal for Granada Hills (9-2-3) on an assist from Miller in the first half. Palisades took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Wendy Hromadka.
