SOUTHERN SECTION 4-A BOYS’ SOCCER PLAYOFFS : Ocean View Erupts in Second Half

Share

If the first half of the Ocean View-Alta Loma Southern Section 4-A boys’ soccer semifinal match was ugly--and it was--the Seahawks’ second half qualifies as highlight-film material.

Ocean View overcame numerous first-half fouls with a four-goal second half to defeat Alta Loma, 4-1, at Ocean View Tuesday. The top-seeded Seahawks (21-4-3) meet Damien in the championship game at 8 p.m. Friday at Cerritos Gahr High School.

A penalty kick by Alta Loma’s Max Alvarez at the 36-minute mark of the first half gave the Braves a 1-0 lead. From there, however, Ocean View dominated.

Twenty minutes into the second half, Ryan Schomberg tied the score with a short shot from the middle. Six minutes later, the Seahawks took the lead on Chris Martin’s goal when he beat Alta Loma’s defenders down the left side, dribbled to the middle and then lofted a shot into the goal.

Scott Roberts gave the Seahawks a 3-1 lead with five minutes left and Daniel Tomlin finished the scoring with a penalty-kick goal.
