SOUTHERN SECTION GIRLS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Pasadena Poly Beats Encino Holy Martyrs

Pasadena Poly held Encino Holy Martyrs scoreless for nearly seven minutes of the third quarter for a 41-25 victory in the Southern Section Division V-AA girls’ game at Cerritos College.
The Armens failed to score during the final 6 minutes 44 seconds of the third quarter and the opening 3:21 of the fourth period--a span of 10:05--and Pasadena Poly took advantage, turning a three-point lead into a 41-25 victory.
Barbara Thomas, a 5-foot-9 forward, had 12 rebounds during the first half and finished with 18 for Pasadena Poly (17-9).
Teammate Lisa Cochran-Bond, a 5-10 forward, led all scorers with 19 points.
Point guard Karineh Abramians led Holy Martyrs (24-3) with nine points, all on three-point baskets.
