OUTLOOK
Troy was forced to rely on five freshmen in the starting lineup last season, and the inexperience was costly. The Warriors finished tied for last with Buena Park in league standings and were 6-13 overall. This season, with the added experience, Bevill is hoping for a third-place finish and a shot at the playoffs. Although the Warriors lost second baseman Roxanne Ortega and Kristen Dietz to graduation, Troy has nine players who gained valuable experience last season, led by the Jessen sisters. Delanie, a senior who hit .327 last season, played shortstop and in the outfield. Jennifer, who hit .283, played in the outfield and pitched. She had a 1.78 earned-run average. Smith, who hit .305 last season, played first base and pitched. Troy still will have one of the youngest teams in the league, with sophomores Bloomingdale, Thomas and Schmidt in key positions. Third baseman Kerbs, a junior, and outfielders Coleman, a senior, and Inman, a junior, lend added experience. Deland, also a sophomore, is the top newcomer. Troy will be tested early in the Garden Grove Tournament.
