OUTLOOK

After a catastrophic 1991 season, the Lobos can’t go anywhere but up. And Flynn, in her first year with the team, thinks Los Amigos will progress this season. “I can see that this team has a lot of heart and will do much better than last year,” said Flynn, who prepped at Bolsa Grande and who starred four years as an outfielder and first baseman on the UCLA women’s team. She said Valenzuela will move from third base to shortstop, with Amanda Sexton--whose twin sister, Andrea, will vie for first base--taking over at third. “(Amanda) is a very good bunter. She’ll hit second in the lineup,” Flynn said. Campbell, the team’s No. 1 pitcher, has impressed Flynn. “She’s throwing hard and has a little bit of movement on the ball,” Flynn said. Offensively, Flynn said the Lobos should be all right. “They are hitting line drives and hard shots. Things that teams need to do to base-hit other teams to death.”
