CCI Must Play Four Games in Two Days

Share

The Golden State Athletic Conference executive committee resolved a three-week-long dispute Thursday by ruling that the Christ College Irvine and Azusa Pacific baseball teams will play doubleheaders April 24 and 25 in Irvine.

The first doubleheader, originally scheduled March 21 at CCI, was rained out. Rain and wet field conditions caused further cancellations until the conference baseball commissioner stepped in and set April 3 as game day.

Azusa Pacific didn’t send a team April 3 because of a previously scheduled on-campus activity, and initially CCI was awarded two forfeit victories.

But Azusa Pacific appealed, and Thursday the executive committee, in a 4-2 vote, decided to reschedule the games for April 24 and move the doubleheader scheduled for April 25 at Azusa Pacific to Irvine. Azusa Pacific also was instructed to pay for the umpires for the four games.

Christ College and Azusa Pacific are tied for first in the conference with 10-3 records.
