COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Garcia Gets Four of Saddleback’s 19 Hits in Its Rout of Fullerton
Robert Garcia had four hits, including two doubles, and drove in five runs as Saddleback beat Fullerton, 14-5, in an Orange Empire Conference baseball game Thursday in Mission Viejo.
Saddleback had 19 hits, including seven doubles, a triple and a home run. The Gauchos (16-16-1, 9-11 in conference) had at least one hit in every inning.
Garcia had an RBI double in the second, then added run-scoring singles in the third and fourth, and a two-run double in the eighth.
Nathan Malagon had a home run (his sixth) a triple and a single. Chris Sauritch had three hits, including two doubles, and drove in two runs and Matt Maffei added two singles, a double and two RBIs for Saddleback.
The Gauchos committed four errors in the first five innings, which led to two unearned runs. But Tom Waterman (6-6) retired the last nine batters he faced and 13 of the last 14. He allowed six hits and struck out six.
Sal Mancuso had his fourth home run for Fullerton (16-16-1, 9-11).
