SAN CLEMENTE : Golf Tournament Will Benefit Shelter

Share

Former football star Efren Herrera and teen golfing sensation Tiger Woods will be among the participants in Community Services Programs’ ninth annual golf tournament to benefit the CSP Youth Shelter in Laguna Beach.

The cost for the tournament, scheduled for next Monday at the Pacific Golf Club in San Clemente, is $175 and includes greens fee, cart, golf clinics and demonstrations, lunch, dinner and an auction.

“Thanks to the generosity of Pacific’s owner, Ken Okuda, who has donated the use of the facilities, the shelter will receive almost all of the money, giving us a very good chance of reaching our $60,000 goal,” tournament co-chairman Ray Yusi said.

The shelter, which has suffered from dramatic governmental budget cuts, serves more than 300 abused, abandoned and runaway youths each year.

Herrera, place kicker for the Dallas Cowboys during their Super Bowl glory years of the mid-1970s, will act as master of ceremonies for the dinner and auction following the tournament.

Prizes offered include a 1992 BMW 325i and an Isuzu Trooper for holes-in-one.
