Matt Wilson hit a grand slam to help Fullerton College upset Los Angeles Harbor, 12-6, in Game 1 of their Southern California Regional baseball playoff series Friday at L.A. Harbor.
Fullerton (20-17-1) came in as the 13th-seeded team and Los Angeles Harbor (33-10) was third.
The teams were tied, 5-5, going into the seventh inning when Sal Mancuso, who also had a home run, hit an RBI single to give Fullerton a 6-5 lead. Later in the seventh, Bryan Mullings hit a two-run single to put the Hornets ahead, 8-5.
Wilson’s grand slam came in the ninth. Whit Haydon also had three hits for Fullerton, which needs to win one more game today to take the best-of-three series.
If L.A. Harbor wins the first game at 11 a.m. today, a second would follow.
