Baseball reunion: Canyon’s starting pitcher, Matt Wood, won’t need a scouting report when the Comanches play host to Savanna Friday in the quarterfinals of the Southern Section 4-A playoffs.

Wood attended Savanna as a freshman and sophomore before moving to Anaheim Hills. He pitched three innings in Canyon’s 9-0 victory over Savanna in the East Anaheim Lions tournament.

“Those are my old teammates, and they’re coming into this game hyped and psyched,” Wood said. “That first game doesn’t mean anything now. I know those guys are going to want a piece of me.”
