Good timing: Peaking for important track and field meets is a science many attempt but few master.
Empire League rivals Shawn Frack of Esperanza and Mike Love of Katella are two who seemed to have nailed it just right at the Southern Section 3-A finals last week at Cerritos College. Frack ran the county’s fastest 3,200 in two years by finishing third in 9:15.98. His previous best was 9:28.84 at the 3-A preliminaries two weeks ago. Love lowered his ’92 best from 4:21.85 to 4:17.07 over the same span.
Both qualified for the Masters meet Friday at Cerritos College.
