HIGH SCHOOL ALL-STAR SOFTBALL : Division 2-A Shuts Out 3-A

The 2-A All-Stars scored three runs in the fourth inning and scored a 3-0 victory Sunday over their 3-A counterparts in the Hall of Champions Senior All-Star Softball Game at Helix High School.

The big inning made a winner of Valhalla pitcher Kelli Stone (Valhalla), who pitched two innings and allowed one hit. Charlene Reyes of San Marcos allowed two hits over the final two innings and earned the save in front of 300 fans.

Escondido’s Marquessa Penrod started for the 2-A and allowed one hit in three innings.

In the fourth, after Rachel Williams (El Capitan) singled and a two-out error allowed Kim Scales (Escondido) to reach base, Reyes lined a two-run triple to center field. Madison’s Chrystal Friesen (Madison) then lined a single to right to score Reyes.
