Westlake-Royal Earns Berth in Semifinals

Steve Talafuse had three hits to lead the Westlake-Royal American Legion baseball team to a 5-3 win over Yakima Valley, Wash., Friday in the quarterfinals of the Sierra Nevada Classic at the University of Nevada.

Jason Ignacio went the distance for Westlake-Royal (11-2, 4-0 in the tournament). Ty Varing, Rico Lagattuta and Shane Slayton each added two hits for Westlake-Royal, which plays Sparks, Nev., in the semifinals today at 5:30 p.m.
