Planning on attending today’s American Legion District 20 All-Star baseball game at Burroughs High?

Better show up early.

Because of the recent closure of athletic facilities at Los Angeles Unified School District campuses, the game was moved from spacious Birmingham High, a district field, to the more compact Burroughs site, which is under the auspices of the Burbank Unified School District.

Game time is 1 p.m.

Burroughs is cozy in more than just the seating area. The diamond features a short porch in right field that could prove attractive to hitters.

In fact, Brad Fullmer, a left-handed-hitting outfielder from Sepulveda who will play for the East, hit three homers in a district game at Burroughs last month.

“It’s short to right, it’s short all over,” Fullmer said. “It’s definitely a hitter’s park.”

The four divisions in District 20 were divided down the middle, with 25 players on both the East and West teams. Players from Western and Northern division teams will play for the West and players from the Southern and Eastern divisions will play for the East.

Van Nuys-Notre Dame landed four players on the 25-man East roster, including left-handed pitchers Chris Garza and Chris Leveque. Verdugo Hills will send three players, including pitchers J.R. Workman and Josh Canale.

Fullmer will be joined by Sepulveda teammates Chris Portugal, an outfielder, and right-handed pitcher Osman Khan.

Jeff Suppan of Encino-Crespi and Crespi High, The Times’ Valley pitcher of the year in the spring, also was named to the East roster. The East coach is Joe Bergara of San Fernando.

Valley North will be represented on the West roster by four players and its coach, Pete Redfern. Included are outfielders Bryan LaCour, Alex Estrada and Mark Lopez.

Palmdale East and Granada Hills West each will have three players on the West side. Palmdale East will send pitchers Joe Garcia, Travis Wilson and Ryan Herman. Granada Hills West will be represented by infielders Dave Cipolla and Heath McElwee and outfielder-pitcher Robert Vazquez.

A pair of All-City Section 4-A Division selections also were selected. Jorge Dorado of Studio City and Monroe High, an infielder-pitcher, will play for the East and catcher-outfielder Stacy Kleiner of Woodland Hills East and Taft High will play for the West.
