Janis Ruetz, who has the most coaching victories in Cal State Dominguez Hills softball history, has resigned to become director of the adaptive physical education program for the Palm Springs Unified School District.

Dominguez Hills Athletic Director Dan Guerrero said the position fits Ruetz’s career goals of teaching in adaptive physical education and pursuing a doctorate in the field.

“We’re very happy that Janis was able to land a position which was compatible with her professional goals, even though it means putting her softball career on hold,” Guerrero said. “Not only was she a great coach, but she was equally outstanding as an instructor in the area of adaptive physical education. We will certainly miss her.”
