OUTLOOK

Although Bolton wants to dismiss the comments as hype, several opposing league coaches maintain that the Lobos are for real this year despite poor back-to-back seasons. And perhaps they are correct. The team’s nucleus is composed of many players promoted from the junior varsity team that won the league championship last year, losing only to Kennedy in the final game. The top players from that group are running backs Tagatauli and Leofa, who also plays linebacker and is one of only four returning starters on defense. Peres and Hwang, the second and third leading tacklers on the team last year behind Leofa, are the mainstays on the line. Although the team is somewhat short on personnel, Bolton said, the players make up for the lack of numbers with their intelligence. “One thing we are really proud of is that we only have 28 kids, but half of them are on honor roll,” Bolton said.
