1991: 5-0 in league; reached Southern Section finals, placing fifth in Division I-AA.

Key returners: David Niednagel, Sr., has best time of returning Dana Hills’ seniors at Mt. San Antonio College and home courses; John Biondolillo, Jr., traded No. 1 spot with Niednagel last season; Denyn Pysz, Sr., No. 3 runner last season; Jose Garcia, Sr., an all-county junior last year; Jason Lelli, Jr., broke into top five last season.

Key newcomers: Clint Allen, Jr., won sophomore division race at Orange County championships; Carter Owens, Sr., junior varsity South Coast League champion in 1,600-meter run.

Outlook: Butler is looking for an improved team. The Dolphins have captured the South Coast League title seven of the past 10 years and have advanced to the CIF Southern Section finals 11 consecutive years. “We are stronger, definitely, but I don’t know by how much,” Butler said. “It will come down to how much the kids themselves feel they can do.”
