COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Chapman Sweeps Doubleheader in Volleyball

Chapman swept a nonconference women’s volleyball doubleheader from San Francisco State Friday in San Francisco.

Sophomore Jenny Gunderson had 19 kills and Jody Narey had 15 in the Panthers’ 15-10, 15-8, 15-13 victory in the first game. Gunderson had 20 kills and no hitting errors in the second game and Vicky Cavavias had 39 assists as Chapman (4-2) won, 15-8, 17-15, 15-0.

In the Northern Arizona women’s volleyball tournament:

Cal State Sacramento 3, UC Irvine 2--Anastasia Arnold and Alison Bantel had 14 kills each for the Anteaters (3-1), who lost, 15-10, 11-15, 15-13, 10-15, 15-13, to Sacramento (1-1).

Northern Arizona 3, UC Irvine 0--Angel Leath had 16 kills and Jennifer Rogers had 14 for Irvine (3-2), which lost, 15-11, 15-8, 15-6.

In nonconference women’s soccer:

Washington State 3, UC Irvine 2 (OT)--Kim Kaitanjian and Jenni Tanaka scored goals for visiting Irvine (3-1). Jenni Drussel scored the winning goal for Washington State.
