Katella Completely Dominates Magnolia, 49-0

Jaret Wright, Katella High’s quarterback, rushed for three touchdowns and passed for two others as the Knights defeated Magnolia, 49-0, Friday night at Glover Stadium in the season opener for both teams.

Wright, the son of former Angel pitcher Clyde Wright, had 193 of Katella’s 208 yards in the first half.

The six-foot, 200-pound junior scored Katella’s first touchdown on a one-yard run. Before the score, Wright raced 43 yards to the Magnolia one-yard line.

Katella scored on its next possession, when Wright completed a 42-yard pass to David Rojo with 3 minutes 45 seconds left in the first quarter. Mike Rubio kicked the conversion, one of seven on the night, to give the Knights a 14-0 lead.

Wright scored on a seven-yard run to make the score 21-0, and just before halftime, Wright completed a 55-yard pass to Rodney Freer.

Jason Gass gave Katella a 35-0 lead when he intercepted a Magnolia pass and returned it 55 yards for the touchdown.
