PREP FOOTBALL : O’Brien Leads Santa Margarita’s 42-6 Rout

Quarterback Sean O’Brien threw for 253 yards and three touchdowns to lead Santa Margarita to a 42-6 victory over St. John Bosco Friday at Saddleback College.

The Eagles led 14-0 at halftime after O’Brien, who also ran for 92 yards, threw touchdown passes to Kevin Duffy and Brian Finneran. They made it a rout early in the second half with three more touchdowns to take a 35-0 lead.

St. John Bosco’s only touchdown came with 10:22 left in the game on a 90-yard run by Ryan Williams, who finished with 203 yards in 22 carries.

Santa Margarita intercepted Brave quarterback Jason Hamilton three times. Ryan Zinn had two interceptions and also rushed for 113 yards, including an 86-yard touchdown dash.

O’Brien, who completed 13 of 20 passes, connected six times with Brian Finneran for 157 yards and three times with Brad Finneran for 37 yards.
