PREP PREVIEW ’92 / Six Teams to Watch : El Toro
Coach: Scott Terry (first year).
1991: 22-4, 9-1 in South Coast League; defending State Division I champion, Southern Section 5-A finalist and co-league champion with Capistrano Valley.
Key returners: Amanda Burrows, Sr., 6-0, middle blocker; Analisa Saylor, Jr., 5-10, setter; Tishara Jespersen, Sr., 5-10, outside hitter; Mary Valenciano, Sr., 5-7, outside hitter; Amber Woodcock, Sr., 6-1, middle blocker; Traci Jensen, Sr., 5-6, outside hitter.
Key newcomers: Monika Bickert, Jr., 5-10, outside hitter; Amber Filbeck, So., 5-10, outside hitter; Erin Martin, So., 5-10, outside hitter.
Outlook: The State coaches’ preseason poll lists the Chargers as the No. 1 team, but they have suffered some major losses--starters Jaime Smith, Wendy Balut and Lesli Steinert have graduated, and Coach Mike Jagd resigned to return to college. Terry, a former Laguna Beach assistant, takes over a talented group that’s favored to win the South Coast League.
