Senior forward Danny Daniels entered Wednesday night’s soccer match at Fresno State tied for seventh on the all-time Cal State Northridge points list with 65 (26 goals, 13 assists). Daniels, who has scored a goal in each of the Matadors’ three matches this season, ranks sixth in goals. Joey Kirk, who played at Northridge from 1983-87 (he redshirted in 1986) is the school’s all-time leader in points (162) and goals (59).

Volleyball: Senior middle blocker Nancy Nicholls and junior setter Alison Wool of Northridge are batting 1.000 in tournaments. The Matadors have played in tournaments at Arizona State and UC Santa Barbara, and Nicholls and Wool have been named to both all-tournament teams. . . . With 131 kills, Nicholls has 949 in her career, third on the all-time Northridge list behind twins Kathleen (1,326, 1987-90) and Marianne Dixon (988, 1987-90).

Wool, who had 155 assists in four matches during the UC Santa Barbara tournament, continues to add to her school-record assist total (2,588).

Football: If the first week is any indication, look for the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference to be strong on offense and weak on defense. Four of the five SCIAC teams that played Saturday gained at least 293 yards and none could hold the opponent to fewer than 307. . . . With Adam Hacker throwing for 248 yards against Pomona-Pitzer, Cal Lutheran leads in passing offense. The Kingsmen also rank first in passing defense after giving up 118 yards.

Statistics current through Tuesday.
