PRO FOOTBALL DAILY REPORT : RAMS : Thompson Glad to Be Out of Phoenix
Running back Anthony Thompson, the Rams’ latest waiver-wire acquisition, practiced with the team Thursday and said he looked forward to a fresh start.
Thompson was released this week by the Phoenix Cardinals, three years after he was the runner-up for the 1989 Heisman Trophy. He is expected to play at least a little Sunday against the Miami Dolphins.
“Any way that I could get out of there, if it came to releasing me, that was fine,” Thompson said. “I knew I could play somewhere in this league, and I’d just like to thank the Rams for the opportunity to show what I could do.”
