GOP Disruption of Boxer Rally

Share

As an eyewitness and unbiased spectator of events at Newport Beach City Hall on Sept. 15, I am compelled to respond to Bruce Herschensohn’s insistence that this was an unsanctioned, spontaneous demonstration at the Republicans for Boxer rally. There was no question that the disrupters, predominantly husky young men, were well-organized, and that the entire operation was premeditated. They arrived en masse , communicated by cellular phone, and quickly jostled the group of Boxer supporters (predominantly women) for the position in front of the TV cameras. They shoved, intimidated, and frightened the rally organizers.

Assemblyman Gil Ferguson, who said he was there to keep the media from distorting the facts, called these punks “boys and girls having a lot of fun because . . . there wasn’t enough time to go to the beach” (Sept. 17). News flash, Gil: Those were no surfers, and the country’s business is not a day at the beach.
