COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Cypress Defeats Orange Coast in Soccer

Cypress College took 20 shots during its 3-1 victory over Orange Coast in the Orange Empire Conference women’s soccer opener for both teams Friday at OCC.

Laurie Wilson and Brandi Yates scored in the first half, and Krishawn Mangan scored in the second half for Cypress (4-1). Jennifer Crispin scored for Orange Coast (2-3-1).

In a nonconference game:

Irvine Valley 3, Golden West 0--Renee Cano scored two goals and Keri Kemmerer had one for host Irvine Valley (4-4, 1-0). Golden West is 1-3, 0-1.

In nonconference men’s soccer:

Cypress 2, Palomar 1--George Charlesworth scored twice for host Cypress (3-3). Steve Nolan had the only goal for Palomar (1-5).

Irvine Valley 3, Mt. San Antonio 2--Shawn Houshmand scored three goals for host Irvine Valley (5-1-1).

Cuyamaca 2, Orange Coast 2--Jeff Berger and P.J. Polowski each scored second-half goals for host OCC (3-2-1). Nelson Townes scored two goals for El Cajon Cuyamaca (1-1-1).

In the Merced water polo tournament:

Golden West wins two--Kurt Bowman and Jose-Renato Martinez each scored four goals in Golden West’s 14-2 quarterfinal victory over Pleasant Hill Diablo Valley. The Rustlers (7-0) also posted a 14-3 victory over Stockton San Joaquin Delta in a first-round victory.
