Whittier Van Overturns; 10 Hurt
Ten members of the Whittier College women’s volleyball team were injured Friday when their van overturned in a field near Tracy, in Central California.
The injured were taken by ambulance to three area hospitals. None of the injuries was life-threatening.
The van, part of a two-vehicle caravan heading to the San Francisco Bay area, was northbound on Interstate 580 near the Patterson Pass Road when it struck a car tire, causing the driver to lose control, said highway patrol officer Gary Burlingame.
The van flipped and came to rest on its wheels in a field.
The team was en route to a game at Mills College. The game was canceled.
