Larry Lacewell, first year director of college scouting for the Dallas Cowboys, acknowledged that he tried to circumvent new scouting restrictions imposed by some college programs by offering to buy videotapes from an unidentified assistant coach at the University of Nebraska.

“I was wrong . . . I didn’t think it was that big of a deal. Maybe it is,” Lacewell told The Dallas Morning News.

Nebraska Coach Tom Osborne, who reported Lacewell’s actions to the College Football Assn., said that other NFL scouts have attempted to circumvent Nebraska’s restrictions, which limit pro scouts’ campus visits to October and April.
