San Pasqual 17, Carlsbad 14--The Eagles rolled up 198 rushing yards, led by DeSale Wallace with 10 carries and 116 yards, including a 58-yard run for a touchdown. Chris Whyte kicked his fourth field goal of the season, and it was the second time this season he has provided the difference for the fifth-ranked San Pasqual (4-0, 1-0). Carlsbad is 1-3, 0-1.

Oceanside 24, Ramona 0--John Portugal completed 16 of 41 for 193 yards and two touchdowns for Oceanside (2-2, 1-0). Portugal had scoring strikes of 27 yards to Jason Roberson and nine yards to Chris Hamer. Hugo Canseco had field goals of 31 and 24 yards. Oceanside held Ramona (0-4, 0-1) to 69 yards of total offense. The Bulldogs are still seeking their first points of the season.

Metro Conference

Southwest 35, Mar Vista 10--Southwest quarterback O’Brian Woods, the county’s leading passer, completed 12 of 23 passes for 205 yards and four touchdowns.

Bonita Vista 35, Sweetwater 22--Bonita Vista ran 58 plays--53 were running--to Sweetwater’s 41--25 were passes--and outgained the Red Devils, 391 yards to 266. Brian Melancon carried 37 times for the host Barons for 226 yards and four touchdowns. Oscar Johnson rushed 9 times, once for a touchdown, for 80 yards for Bonita Vista (3-1, 1-0). For Sweetwater (2-2, 0-1), David Gregorio was 10 of 25 for 141 yards and two touchdowns. Red Devil Josh Driggs rushed 11 times for 121 yards and one touchdown for Bonita Vista.

Palomar League

Poway 42, San Dieguito 6--The Titans moved to 3-1, 1-1 with their second rout in as many weeks. Quarterback Travis Nichols figured in all six touchdowns. He scored on runs of one and three yards and threw scoring passes of five, 55 and 70 yards to Jeff Pattison. Charlie Kamen also caught a 14-yard touchdown pass from Nichols. The Mustangs are 2-2, 0-1.

Fallbrook 14, RBV 7--No. 6 Fallbrook (4-0) scored all 14 points in the first quarter to hold off No. 9 RBV (1-3, 0-1). Tommy Hoff scored on a five-yard run and Aaron Anderson caught a 25-yard scoring pass.

Vista 36, Rancho Bernardo 22--Matt Stone rushed 17 times for 154 yards and one touchdown, and Dan Sears rushed 17 times for 98 and two scores to lift No. 7 Vista (3-1, 1-0). Rancho Bernardo (3-1, 0-1) led 15-14 in the third quarter when Chris Martinez returned an interception 40 yards to put Vista ahead for good. Martinez also had a nine-yard scoring reception.

Nonleague

La Jolla 27, Hoover 0--La Jolla (1-3) took a 27-0 halftime lead to break its four-game losing streak at Hoover (0-4). Senior James Rudolph rushed for 130 yards on 20 carries, including a nine-yard touchdown run. Seth Hidalgo caught a 64-yard scoring pass play from Haik Kevorkian, who was five of 10 for 108 yards.

Julian 37, Santa Fe Christian 22--Steve Lara caught eight passes, one for a touchdown, for 101 yards, and he also had three interceptions on defense, giving him eight for the season, to lead Julian (4-0). Julian quarterback J.D. Yohner was 11 of 20 for 132 yards with three touchdowns and running back Cory Burnett rushed 14 times for 96 yards, including a touchdown run of 47 yards. Darren Dalton had 15 carries, 134 yards and one touchdown for Santa Fe Christian (1-3).

Kearny 20, Serra 7--The Conquistadors (1-3) were sparked by some strong individual performances but they self-destructed, fumbling three times inside the Kearny 10-yard line. Billy Dill rushed for 132 yards on 12 carries, and Lovell Swink had 143 yards of combined rushing and receiving. Chris Bell had a school-record 18 tackles.

James Curtis had 191 yards on 25 carries and scored all three touchdowns for the Komets (3-1). Kenny Junious added five catches for 89 yards.

Crawford 27, Coronado 7--The Colts improved to 2-2 by passing. Quarterback Dominic Mosler (11 of 20 for 234 yards) threw touchdown passes of 28 and 49 yards to Altee Parker (three catches for 116 yards) and 10 yards to Michael Bell (six catches for 75 yards). Mosler also rushed for a two-yard score. Parker and Bell had an interception each. The Islanders fell to 1-3.

Monte Vista 17, Santana 6--John Acosta was 12 of 17 for 228 yards and threw touchdowns of 36 and 54 yards to Joel Miller and Tony Perez, respectively. Ricky Berrian rushed 18 times for 98 yards for the Monarchs (2-2). Santana fell to 2-2.

Patrick Henry 14, Madison 7--Loren Roseman scored with six minutes remaining to lift Patrick Henry (2-2). Jason Stone scored the first touchdown on a 22-yard run. Micah Courtney rushed for 196 yards, including an 86-yard touchdown run for Madison (1-3).

University City 21, Mira Mesa 0--The Centurions, 4-0, have yet to give up a point this season, and might have beaten the Marauders (2-2) by more if not for a nullified 95-yard punt return and a fumble on the Marauder three-yard line. UC had 394 yards total offense, keyed by quarterback Daranzol Sheppard, who threw touchdown passes of 30 and 24 yards to Greg Russell. Sheppard, who completed 13 of 20 passes for 221 yards, scored the last touchdown on a 20-yard run.

Mission Bay 21, San Diego 19--The Cavers (2-2) missed a two-point conversion trying to tie the game in the fourth quarter, allowing the Buccaneers to improve to 4-0. Holder John Espinal threw incomplete to kicker Pablo Ornelas after Mel Hernandez scored on a two-yard run. San Diego also scored on 55-yard pass from Wesley Pierre to Jacque Jones. Steve Vincent threw touchdown passes of 18 and eight yards for Mission Bay.

El Capitan 28, Granite Hills 6--For El Capitan (3-1), Eric Rockhold rushed 16 times for 108 yards and teammate James Hopkins carried 13 times for another 108 yards. El Capitan had 289 yards rushing and 40 passing. Granite Hills fell to 1-3.

Marian 28, Mt. Empire 8--Ian Sutlick rushed 11 times for 124 yards, including touchdown runs of 15, 5, and 24 yards.
