Share

Thousand Oaks High put on a ball-control clinic with a deliberate grind-it-out rushing game to open Marmonte League play with a 13-7 victory over visiting Westlake on Friday night.

Junior quarterback Trevor Thompson’s two-yard run up the middle with 7 minutes 26 seconds to play gave Thousand Oaks the margin of victory.

Westlake (0-4) broke a scoreless deadlock early in the second quarter to take a 7-0 lead. Quarterback Brian Field threw long down the sideline to sophomore wide receiver Billy Miller, but the pass was short and bounced off defender Greg Aguilar’s hands into the arms of Miller, who sprinted for a 75-yard touchdown.
