Santa Barbara High quarterback Dustin Spencer threw for three touchdowns and rushed for two others as the unbeaten Dons rallied from a pair of 10-point deficits to post a 42-31 victory over Buena in a Channel League game Friday night at Santa Barbara.

With Santa Barbara (5-0, 2-0 in league play) trailing, 17-7, in the second quarter, Spencer threw a 76-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Torlando Bolden to narrow the deficit to 17-14 at halftime. Spencer then gave the Dons a 21-17 lead midway through the third quarter on a five-yard run.

Buena (2-3, 1-1) regained the lead, 24-21, as quarterback Aaron Triana connected on a 44-yard touchdown pass to tight end Lance Caldwell, but Spencer answered with a 30-yard touchdown dash.

However, Spencer threw touchdown passes of six and 19 yards to Bolden in the final period.

Buena running back George Keiaho, who saw limited duty because of an injury, scored first-half touchdowns on a pair of two-yard runs. Keiaho, a junior, gained 28 yards in 11 carries.

Buena’s leading rusher was Johnny Chang, who had 31 yards in 10 carries.
