Cuesta Defeats Golden West to Win Water Polo Title

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Cuesta beat Golden West, 11-8, Saturday in the championship game of the Golden West water polo tournament.
Jose Martinez had three goals for Golden West (14-1) and teammate Curt Bowman had two.
In the semifinals, Bowman scored four goals in an 11-5 victory over Long Beach.
In the first round, Golden West defeated Palomar, 7-5, Grossmont defeated Fullerton, 11-9, and Cuesta defeated Saddleback, 9-8.
In consolation play:
Fullerton 14, Saddleback 10--Mark Allman had eight goals to lead Fullerton (11-9-1). Kevin Smith, Kris Lowe, Tim Millington, Trevor Kodin, and Ed Moeller each had two goals for Saddleback.
