In another Olympic League volleyball match:

Calvary Chapel 3, Ontario Christian 1--Sophomore outside hitter Courtney Owens had 25 kills for Calvary Chapel (8-1, 7-1), which defeated Ontario Christian, 13-15, 15-0, 15-3, 15-6.

In the Century League:

Foothill 3, El Modena 0--Becca Foltz had 21 kills as host Foothill won, 15-9, 15-6, 15-6. It was the first league loss in three seasons for El Modena. Foothill is 6-2, 4-0.

In the Pacific Coast League:

Laguna Beach 3, Estancia 0--Rachel Wacholder had 19 kills for host Laguna Beach (8-0, 4-0), which won, 15-10, 15-11, 15-5.

In the Sea View League:

Corona del Mar 3, Santa Margarita 0--Jennifer Stroffe had 17 kills for visiting Corona del Mar, the No. 1-ranked team in the state. The Sea Kings won, 15-6, 17-15, 15-2.

Irvine 3, Saddleback 0--Kristi McKnitt had 10 kills and Lindsay Jones added eight for visiting Irvine in a 15-4, 15-2, 15-5 victory. Irvine is 7-5, 5-3.

In the South Coast League:

Capistrano Valley 3, Mater Dei 0--Shelly Smith led host Capistrano Valley (9-1, 4-0) with 12 kills in the 15-9, 15-6, 15-5 victory.

In Freeway League boys’ cross-country:

Sonora 27, Sunny Hills 28--Sophomore Jose Gonzales helped Sonora, placing first in 16 minutes 14 seconds for the Raiders (3-0).

In Orange League girls’ cross-country:

Brea-Olinda 22, Western 39--Kelly Daucher of Brea ran 21:07 to win by 24 seconds over three miles at Twila Reed Park in Anaheim.

In the Pacific Coast League:

Laguna Hills 19, Laguna Beach 38--Heather McGlone won in 20:09 and Heidi Sickler and Mayra Media were a second behind for host Laguna Hills (4-0).

In Century League girls’ tennis:

El Modena 13, Foothill 5--Brandi Freudenberg swept at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-0, 6-1, and Amy Medlin won, 6-3, 6-3, 6-4, at No. 2 singles for visiting El Modena (9-3, 6-0).

In the Empire League:

Los Alamitos 16, Katella 2--Freshman Melissa Rosenthal swept, 6-4, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 1 singles for Los Alamitos (14-1, 6-0).

In the Olympic League:

Connelly 9, Orange Lutheran 9 (Connelly wins on games, 74-73)--Ann Mah and Camille Pinero swept at No. 1 doubles, 6-4, 6-2, 6-0, for visiting Connelly (6-3, 3-0). Mah and Pinero are 27-0 this season.

In the Pacific Coast League:

Laguna Beach 13, Estancia 5--Freshman Lindsay Weiss swept at No. 3 singles, 6-2, 6-0, 6-2, for host Laguna Beach (13-1, 5-0), ranked second in Southern Section Division II. Estancia is 11-3, 4-1 and ranked fifth in Division II.

In the Sea View League:

Santa Margarita 12, Corona del Mar 6--The Eagles avenged a first-round, 10-8 loss to Corona del Mar, upsetting the Sea Kings (8-1 in league). Santa Margarita’s Sandy Needham swept at No. 1 singles, 7-6, 6-1, 6-0. Needham, a senior, defeated Corona del Mar’s Marcie Asch, 7-2, in a tiebreaker after coming back from a 4-2 deficit in the set. Santa Margarita is 8-1.

In the South Coast League:

Capistrano Valley 10, Mater Dei 8--Jennie Canfield and Tia West swept at No. 1 doubles, 6-4, 6-1, 6-1, for host Capistrano Valley (5-6, 3-1). The pair is 18-0 this season.
