Saturday night’s Foothill Conference football matchup between undefeated Antelope Valley College and unbeaten San Bernardino was over before the Marauders could say Mike Maxwell to Eddie Pratt.

San Bernardino (5-0-1, 4-0) jumped to a 21-0 lead in the first eight minutes and quarterback Maxwell and wide receiver Pratt hooked up seven times for 184 yards and three touchdowns in the first half as the Indians rolled to a 48-21 win.

San Bernardino, ranked 11th in the state by the JC Grid-Wire, scored touchdowns on its first six possessions and led, 42-6, in the second quarter.

The score would have been even more lopsided had Antelope Valley’s Carl Taylor not blocked a 26-yard field-goal attempt with 10 seconds to play in the first half.

Robert Haywood returned the ball 88 yards for a touchdown as the half expired, closing the gap to 42-13.

Lamart Cooper provided one of the few bright spots for Antelope Valley (4-1-1, 3-1) with a 20-yard touchdown reception in the third quarter. Cooper had six catches for 114 yards.

San Bernardino’s offense, led by Maxwell (255 yards passing) and Chris Whitaker (169 yards rushing), rolled up 490 yards.

Ryan Callahan completed six of 13 passes for 95 yards and a touchdown but threw two interceptions for Antelope Valley, which is ranked 13th.
