SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

Southern California Christian’s lack of depth showed in the Flames’ 55-6 loss to unbeaten Temecula Linfield Christian Saturday at Brea-Olinda High School.

Injuries have depleted the roster, leaving SCC Coach Bert Esposito with mostly junior varsity players available.

“We played a good first half (holding the Division X top-ranked team) to 14 points at halftime,” Esposito said.. “But when you don’t have the ammo, you can’t keep up. Linfield had the guns and were able to reconfigure in the second half. Playing mostly JV players, we were just trying to stay in the game.”
