Defending champion and top-seeded Pete Sampras advanced to the final of the Lyon Open with a 6-0, 6-2 victory over third-seeded MaliVai Washington at Lyon, France.
In today’s final, Sampras will play Cedric Pioline of France, who defeated Richey Reneberg, 6-2, 6-7 (7-1), 7-5, in the other semifinal. Pioline will be playing in his first Grand Prix final.
