Murder Suspect to Be Arraigned Today
A Norwalk man suspected of murdering a man found dumped alongside Carbon Canyon Road on Oct. 15 is scheduled to be arraigned today in Municipal Court in Fulllerton, police said.
Alfonso Martinez Perez, 24, was arrested at his home about 9 a.m. Friday after police conducted a search of the house, said Sgt. Ed McDonald of the Brea Police Department. No weapons were recovered, McDonald said.
A passing motorist contacted police after seeing someone dump a body out of a 1988 blue and white GMC truck alongside Carbon Canyon Road about a quarter mile east of Olinda Drive, McDonald said. The dead man, who was shot once in the head, was later identified as Theodore Stathis, 36, of Torrance.
McDonald said the investigation is continuing.
Martinez Perez was booked into County Jail on suspicion of murder.
