The Belmont High girls’ cross-country team will try for an unprecedented fourth city title Nov. 14 at Pierce College. The boys’ team is seeking its ninth title in 11 seasons. The Belmont boys defeated defending champion Bell in a dual meet and at the Bell-Jeff invitational in September . . . America Rivas, a Glendale College sophomore from Garfield High, won the Bakersfield cross-country invitational. . . . Angel Martinez, the State Division I cross-country champion at San Gabriel High last year, is now competing for Mt. San Antonio College. He won the San Francisco and San Mateo invitationals to lead his team to titles at both meets.
