DIVISION XI FOOTBALL PLAYOFFS : SCC’s Offense Stalls in Loss to Mammoth Lakes

Mammoth Lakes defeated Southern California Christian, 35-6, in the first round of the Southern Section Division XI football playoffs Saturday at Mammoth Lakes.

The victory advanced Mammoth Lakes, the Desert Mountain League champion, to the semifinals against Hamilton.

The game belonged to Steve Shibley, who rushed 19 times for 141 yards and three touchdowns, including a 77-yard run in the first quarter.

Huskies quarterback Mike Paranick completed seven of nine passes for 120 yards. Paranick also scored on a 30-yard run in the fourth quarter.

Wide receiver Scott Thompson led the Mammoth pack with three catches, including one for a touchdown in the third quarter.

Southern California Christian had a tough game offensively, with quarterback Mike Felton scoring the team’s only touchdown on a one-yard run in the second quarter.

Running back Mike Jacot managed to get through Mammoth’s tough defensive line for 93 yards in 10 carries.
