OUTLOOK
The Patriots are moving from the six-team Academy League to the eight-team Express League, but even with the two additional teams to beat out for a playoff spot, Caldie says his team will be in the hunt for the championship. That would be a big step for Heritage Christian, which finished last in its league last season. “My players are older and experienced,” Caldie said. “I see this team as favorite to win the league.” The Patriots will depend heavily on two players to get them there--Dixon and Steve Acheson. Dixon, who averaged 14 assists to lead the county last year, accounted for 12.9 points and 9.1 rebounds per game. He had six triple-doubles in the eight league games. Acheson, who Caldie says is a great shooter, averaged 16.4 points and had seven three-pointers in an 88-71 loss to Gethsemane Baptist in the first round of the Southern Section Division V-A playoffs. Caldie said the team’s major weakness is that no player is taller than 6 feet.
