OUTLOOK

There were great expectations last season for the Lobos, who had three returning starters and four players 6 feet 8 or taller. But things didn’t quite gel for Los Amigos, which finished sixth in the eight-team league. Olivier, now in his third season with the Lobos, doesn’t expect the team to challenge for the league title but he is looking for a big improvement. “I think the league will be more competitive this season,” Olivier said. “We are working a lot more on fundamentals, which I think will pay off in the long run. Plus, we’ve got some kids coming in from the water polo team (Douglas and Martell) and the football team (Tagatauli and Sianez) who are bringing in winning attitudes.” The Lobo water polo team won the Southern Section Division IV championship last week and the football squad advanced to the Division VII quarterfinals before losing to Lompoc, 28-13. “Dillon and Martell will be my main guns,” Olivier said. Brown, who Olivier said has improved greatly since last season, will handle the post. Odegard, the most valuable player on the junior varsity team, will battle Tagatauli for the point guard spot.
