OUTLOOK
Brown begins his fourth season at the school with his youngest, most inexperienced team. “Four juniors will start and play a lot for us,” he said. “Our strength is our work ethic, overall size and defense. Our weakness could be lack of quickness, scoring potential and handling pressure.” The Hawks lost most of their starters, including top scorer Jon Colton and assist leader Aaron Cook. The young players will need to develop quickly if the Hawks hope to challenge for the league’s top three or four spots. Brunstetter started, averaging five points a game, and will need to pick up the scoring pace along with Charles and Stilson. “The key question for us is consistency on offense,” Brown said. “We have to find someone to score for us. But we have a great group. I’m encouraged by their chemistry.” What the Hawks lack in quickness and experience, they make up for in size. McDonald, Charles and Hale are one of the league’s biggest front courts, along with Trabuco Hills and Century. Brown calls Hale his “dark horse player,” promoted from last year’s sophomore team.
