OUTLOOK

The Vaqueros move from the South Coast League this season and should be a factor in the league race. True, there is only one starter back, but he will be the best big man in the league. Ambrozich averaged 10 points and six rebounds last season, numbers that should go up. “We need him to be on the court, giving us quality minutes,” Keith said. “He’s the sure thing, it’s the rest of the team that is the key.” That isn’t too bad either. French saw plenty of action, but is the only other returning player. Still, Keith does have a number of players up from a 22-1 junior varsity, losing only to Capistrano Valley. The Vaqueros also beat the Cougars once. “We have good size and all the things that go with it--rebounding, shot blocking and inside scoring,” Keith said. There are only 10 players on the roster, but Keith expects to use them all. “We have many players who are pretty interchangeable,” Keith said. Mohtashami will play point guard. Wakeham and Eldridge, the co-MVPs on the junior varsity will also start. Foster was a find. He moved from Colorado and should have a bright future.
