OUTLOOK

Get ready for the Sea Kings to run-and-gun, at least in comparison to their previous style. Orris, a true believer of pass-and-pick basketball, plans to cut his team loose a little. “Yeah, we’re going to be more up-tempo,” Orris said. “We’re a lot quicker than we have been in recent years. But we don’t have the size.” Smead is the only player taller than 6-2. But the Sea Kings make up for the lack of size with quickness and balance. In the past, Orris has relied on one or two players for most of the offense. This season, it will be spread out. Quinn is a strong inside player, while Merriman and Wendell shoot well on the perimeter. The team’s three other returning lettermen are also expected to pick up the scoring slack. “We want everybody involved,” Orris said. “We have to have everyone involved. We don’t have the type of guy that we can go to all the time.” If the Sea Kings do find themselves in a must-score situation, Merriman will be the guy to take it. Bohne is an exchange student from Germany. He is talented, but how much he will contribute is unknown. Much the same can be said about the rest of the team.
