COLLEGE BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : No. 6 Michigan Rolls Past Cleveland State, 88-56

Juwan Howard and Chris Webber each scored 21 points to lead sixth-ranked Michigan to an 88-56 victory over Cleveland State on Monday night at Ann Arbor, Mich.

Cleveland State (1-1) stayed within striking distance until Howard scored six consecutive points to cap a 10-2 run that gave Michigan (4-1) a 51-30 lead six minutes into the second half.

Michigan scored the first 12 points and never trailed.

Anthony Reed scored 15 points for the Vikings.

No. 7 Seton Hall 88, St. Peter’s 54--Terry Dehere scored nine of his 27 points in a 19-2 run and the Pirates routed the Peacocks at East Rutherford, N.J.

Seton Hall (7-1) made seven of its first 13 three-point shots, including three during the big run that started after Oyango Merriman’s basket got St. Peter’s to within 27-25 with 3:14 left in the half.

Merriman scored 15 points for the Peacocks.

OTHER GAMES

Michael Finley scored 16 of his 18 points in the first half and Wisconsin (3-2) breezed to a 101-72 victory over Charleston Southern (1-3) at Madison, Wis. Darnell Sneed had 23 of his 25 points in the second half for the Buccaneers. . . . Voshon Lenard scored 20 points as Minnesota (3-0) defeated Texas San Antonio, 93-75, at Minneapolis. . . . Bill Curley scored 17 points and Howard Eisley sank a three-pointer with 1:22 left as Boston College (3-1) downed Coastal Carolina, 69-65, at Newton, Mass. Mohammed Acha and Tony Dunkin each had 19 points for the Chanticleers (3-1).
