Sonora only graduated two starters, but the Raiders, who were fourth in the Freeway League last season, will be hard-pressed to keep up with La Habra and Troy. Brown is optimistic, hoping to finish in the top two. “Sonora’s strength this year will be the fact that we have a lot of returning seniors to add depth to our program,” she said. “We plan to be more of a rebounding powerhouse team. We also have a lot of youth to add to our program to give us more of a balance.” All-league player Nonis, who averaged three three-pointers a game last season, is Sonora’s top player. Nonis, a 5-6 senior point guard, who is being recruited by Division I and II teams, averaged 12.4 points. Fister averaged eight points. “This year, we plan to come out shooting better as a team,” Brown said. “Sonora in the past has been considered an easy win. This year we plan to be more competitive and be a team that is to be reckoned with.”
