Share

Heavy rains Tuesday forced many local soccer tournaments to be postponed, including virtually all play at the Excalibur girls’ event at Foothill High School.

Excalibur tournament officials had planned to play despite the rain, but referees ruled the fields unplayable. In the only game played Tuesday, Dana Hills beat Santa Barbara San Marcos, 2-0, in a consolation-round game suspended midway through the second half because of the rain.

The tournament is scheduled to resume this morning, beginning with Tuesday’s schedule. The championship quarterfinal games are: Noon--El Toro vs. Capistrano Valley; Edison vs. Trabuco Hills, Simi Valley vs. Encinitas San Dieguito. 3 p.m.--Marina vs. South Torrance.
